Accessories: 4 out of 5
While dual USB 3.1 gen 2 cables are becoming more common place, finding dual braided cables included is not. As such the Bolt B75 Pro’s accessories are not only above average but actually impressive to say the least.

Read performance: 22 out 25
While we do wish Silicon Power had used a higher performance 2.5-inch SSD series as the foundation for the Bolt B75 Pro the end result is hard to argue with. It certainly is not the fastest SATA based USB 3.1 gen 2 external storage solution we have seen recently, but it is by no means ‘slow’ for its class.

Write performance: 34 out of 40
As with read performance these the write performance is decent bordering on very good. So while it will never supplant LaCie or Seagate on a performance basis… it is still more than good enough. Good enough few will care about a few extra seconds one way or the other.

Warranty: 7 out of 10
Including only a two year warranty is a smidge on the low end of things by modern standards, but given the asking price it is entirely understandable. As such some will care about the loss of a third year, but others will be more than happy with the lowered asking price!

Value: 18 out of 20
This is where the Silicon Power Bolt B75 Pro shines the brightest. While it may loose a step in the shear performance metrics it more than makes up for in the eye-brow raising low asking price. Quite honestly, this drive is priced more like a run of the mill, zero drop testing, plastic clad drive. The very fact Silicon Power was able to include a decent SSD and certify it against shock damage is impressive.

Final Score: 85 / 100
With its unique blend of style, and value-added features the Bolt B75 Pro may not be the absolute fastest SATA SSD based USB 3.1 gen 2 external storage available but it is one of the better values going right now. Kudos to Silicon Power for thinking outside the box and bringing a nice large dose of value to a stagnating corner of the market!
