While a touch expensive for the performance it offers at factory settings the combination of greatly increased overclocking headroom with noticeably improved build quality does make that $30 surcharge seem like a bargain for enthusiasts on a tight budget.
Score Card and Summary
Packaging & Accessories: 7 out of 10
The packaging and accessories that MSI includes it decent if not outstanding. Basically, if you liked what MSI did with other GeForce GTX 10-series Gaming cards you will like this ‘Gaming X’ just as much.
Functionality & Aesthetics: 19 out of 20
This card is not only extremely functional but also rather pretty. Better still the improvements in the cooling department make for a card that is as quiet as it is potent. Brilliant stuff!
Build Quality & Warranty: 16 out of 20
On the one hand the 3 year warranty is nothing to write home about – though it is the industry standard, on the other this card is not built it is over-built – right down to doubling the amount of power the card has available for overclocking. As such we have no issues in this department with the MSI GeForce GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4G beyond its overly large for its class form-factor.
Performance: 26 out of 30
As we saw throughout testing the MSI GeForce GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4G may not be exactly in the same league as its GTX 1060 brothers but it does come close from time to time. That is rather impressive given how underpowered this cards memory bus is.
Value: 16 out of 20
This card represents a very good value for those who can not afford GTX 1060 prices but want more than what the typical GTX1050Ti can offer. This goes double for those willing to overclock things even further.
Final Score: 84 out of 100
The MSI GeForce GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4G may cost more than the typical 1050Ti but for enthusiasts it still represents one heck of a bargain. After all, for a mere thirty dollars more than a stock GTX 1050Ti you get a much better card that is capable of a lot more than what you can expect from a factory stock model.
