The read performance that this new series has to offer is rather impressive. Put simply this upgrade once again makes XQD a true competitor for CFast. Maybe Nikon were right in sticking with it instead of moving to CFast.

While it may not be quite at the top of the charts, this new 2933X series sets a new high watermark for XQD cards. There really is nothing even close available at the moment.

Just as with the all Professional series, the Lexar 2933X Professional XQD 2.0 series come with a lifetime warranty that is backstopped by one of the largest NAND manufactures in the world: Micron. This means that the Lexar Professional lifetime warranty is indeed a true lifetime warranty and will be honored for your lifetime and not the cards! The only minor issue is RMA’ing one may mean shipping it to the States. If you have a Micron RMA depot in your country, then you can consider this card a perfect 10.

This is one area the Lexar Professional XQD 2933X stumbles as XQD in general is simply not as cost effective as other standards. However, with nosebleed performance levels the price to performance value equation is not as bad as it would first seem. Put bluntly if we had to choose between using the slower SD UHS-ii slot or the XQD 2.0 slot on a new Nikon camera we would not even hesitate in choosing this little powerhouse.

There is no denying that this new series is expensive. There is also no denying that there are actually faster competing standards available. Both of these points however miss the most important fact: this card is the speed king of XQD, and since Nikon is backing this standard and not CFast that means if you are Nikon user and want to upgrade to a more modern standard then this is the card for you. Just expect to pay a premium for all that power.
