Performance: 38 out of 40
Thanks to its massive pseudo-SLC write cache buffer backstopped by the fastest TLC NAND going the 4TB capacity variant of the MP700 PRO SE is a fantastic performer. Sure there are technically 2TB options that are going to be slightly faster but only for the OS or app/game drive. Not both. We doubt many will notice the difference in the real world. Furthermore, if you do push your SSD hard having twice the pSLC capacity will come in handy.

Cutting edge NAND that is arguably the best of the best of the best? Check.
Massive RAM and pSLC write cache buffers? Check.
Three variants with three different types of cooling? Double check!
Put simply, this new Special Edition of the MP700 Pro series is fantastic and pack with innovation. So much so it even outshines the T705… that is Micron’s showcase model for the B58R 2400MT/s NAND. Color us impressed to say the least.
Build Quality & Warranty: 19 out of 20
Corsair has always been driven to be the best at whatever market they enter and the MP700 Pro SE is the epitome of this philosophy in action. Water/Air/Passive options that do not use press fittings? Corsair is there. Extremely easy, robust, and for a full five year warranty coverage? Once again Corsair is there to show the rest how to do things right. Quite honestly, if Corsair ever decides to pair with Thermalright and make their active cooled option perfect… this series will indeed be perfect. Until then we do have to ding the entire series a point as 2010 fan based M.2 cooling solutions are notorious for their noise.
Value: 20 out of 20
Yes. Giving a perfect score to a drive that will set buyers back XX does ludicrous. It is a surreal amount of cash to expect home users to spend on a single SSD. It however easily justifies that amount and then makes a great argument for why it is not only justified but such a good deal that replacing the ‘old standard’ combination of a 1-2TB SSD for the OS and a second 2TB for the app/game drive no longer makes much sense… and wont until Intel’s next gen CPU and chipset are released with hopefully eight PCIe 5.0 lanes dedicated to M.2 performance.
Final Score : 95 out of 100
While the Corsair MP7000 Pro SE is not – quite – perfect… it is about as close as we have seen a single drive come. As long as you can fit its asking price in your budget there simply are few reasons to look elsewhere as its combination of price, capacity, and performance are just that good. As the old saying goes ‘buy once, cry one’. So go buy it. Enjoy it… and rest assured that you have one mighty fine, and might capacity, SSD for your new build.
