The Intel 6900K is actually AMD Ryzen 7’s stiffest competition. Yes it costs 1 to 2 times as much (depending on which 7 you are using for comparison) but it is one heck of a CPU on one heck of a platform – easily the best overall Intel offers. However, in apples to apples / stock vs stock comparison the 6900K is still not that great deal. Single digit improvement (and in some cases darn near rounding error differences) is simply not worth paying the ‘Intel tax’… unless you need quad channel RAM and 40 PCIe lanes that is. If you do… well you already know the answer.
