Of the three main competitors to the Ryzen 7 series the 6950X makes the most compelling case in opting for AMD over Intel. A mere 6-14 percent reduction in real world performance for a massive reduction in price? That is about as close to ‘no-brainer’ levels as you are going to find. After all, that extra money you just found in your budget can go towards getting a lot more video card horsepower… horsepower that turns the 4-7 percent lower gaming performance into a massive gain for the AMD rig. Of course, if you do have the cash to burn the 6950X is still faster… so if ‘money is no object’ AMD is close but not optimal. Considering how few consumers have that much extra cash to waste on relatively small performance boosts AMD is indeed back in the race!
