We have upgraded our system once again since our last review, though this time it has merely been increasing the size and quality of our SSD to enable us to have faster load times and store more games on it. The updated system configuration contains an Intel i7 4930k processor, 16GB of DDR3 quad channel memory, Crucial MX200 1TB SSD (the new addition), PNY GTX 980 XLR8 Pro OC, and a Samsung 2560 x 1440p monitor.
It appears between patch 1.06 when the Witcher 3 review was written and patch 1.10 (Hearts of Stone) they have fixed nVidia’s Hairworks, meaning if you enable it you can actually alter the AA multiplier settings of it. This is advantageous to those who want the benefit of Hairworks without the random frame drops that could turn a steady 60 FPS scene into several seconds of 30 FPS. Aside from this there is nothing new to say about the graphics, which is fairly common when it comes to an expansion or a DLC, the developer will usually stay within the confines of the engine of the main game and the graphical details will remain in line as to not make it stand out against the main game. Developers do this as it takes less resources as they have mostly exist already as well as to enable it to remain seamless for Game of the Year editions. The hair still blows at random times, but we’re already commented on that in our Witcher 3 review and will not be beating a dead horse here.
