Nixeus monitors have always come with On Screen Displays that are best described as decent bordering on good. They make lack the in-depth 6-axis adjustments of some other manufactures but the combination of physical buttons with a consistent and well thought out OSD makes for a very good combination. One where you can easily ‘get the job done’ without too much hassle.
Since this monitor is not factory calibrated you may want to either invest in a colorimeter (Spyder or i1Display Pro) or manually adjust the colors. Either option will net you good results. Of course… a i1Display Por will net you perfection but you will be dropping nearly 3 bills (USD) on it. For a single usage event ‘good enough’ may indeed be good enough.
For our sample, and a place to start not finish… as every EDG 34S will vary, we started by lowering all three primary colors by 4. We then raised Red by 1, raise blue back up by 4, and green by 2 points in the OSD. This with a light touch to the gamma levels netted us results that ranged from 99 to 101 on Red, Green and Blue – with an average of a perfect 100 – depending on precisely where we measured the colors on the screen. With a bit of time, around twenty to thirty minutes, and patience you will easily dial in your EDG 34S’ colors well enough that only professionals will notice a slight variance. Once again if you want perfection buy a colorimeter. Everyone else will consider the small-time investment a better deal than investing in overkill colorimeters.
