Much like MSI has spent the past few years refining their BIOS so too have they spent a lot of effort on refining their software. This generation that takes the form of a few key pieces of software. The first is the BIOS command center package which is basically your one stop shop for most of your typical needs. It really has not changed all that much in that if you want to customize your fan profile – its here. If you want to adjust core or ram frequencies… its also here.
It is however not the only way of doing things. First up is the X-Boost software solution which not only allows you to boost performance, based on some rather simplistic terms like ‘games’ or ‘video editing, but allows you to boost USB and storage performance. All with a single click of the mouse. Overall its pretty decent.
In addition to this program is Mystic Light which allows for complete control over any attached Mystic LED strips. On higher end boards it also allows for control over the RGB LEDs imbedded into the motherboard but the MSI X370 SLI Plus does not have any… so unless you purchase a multi-color Mystic LED strip this program can be safely ignored.
The last software that is installed is their software and BIOS updater program. As with previous generation of MSI boards, MSI’s Live Update program will routinely ping their servers and tell you when there are firmware, driver and software updates available. Once it does find an update you can easily install all updates with a simple click of the mouse. It will even reboot the system for you after it is done. We do recommend rerunning it afterwards just to ensure that the latest versions did in fact install. They always did in our case, but occasionally Anti-Virus programs can interfere. So ‘trust, but verify.’
