To test a motherboard’s onboard audio solution’s abilities we have used RightMark Audio Analyzer.
As expected the onboard sound solution is not exactly going to wow audiophiles. This is the same ALC892 controller that has been used on mid and value orientated motherboards for years and years… and MSI has not really done much to improve upon its ‘legacy’ – new Audio Boost 4 moniker or not. By the same token it still is a decent sound solution that should satisfy the average consumer more than adequately. In other words, unless you own high end speakers or cans the motherboard will not be the weak link. If by some chance you have spent a fortune on your existing audio setup… spend the money you saved on the motherboard and install a PCIe soundcard as no integrated motherboard sound solution will be satisfactory.
