It is results like this why the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW DT got such a bad reputation. At retail prices it really is hard to justify. Its not a bad card, in fact it is better than the SuperClocked 1070… it just was/is priced way to high. When so little separates this card from the ‘true’ 1070 FTW people were expecting more than what it could deliver. With that said, because of this ‘bad reputation’ a lot of those sold have turned up on the resale marketplace. This is where things do a complete 180 and it goes from being overpriced to be a veritable gem for those who know what it can and cannot do.
TL;DR
This card is not going to be right for everyone. Running it at stock settings is much like owning a Lambo and never taking it out of first gear. The only expectation is people who really, really care about noise as this card is darn near silent. So if you are not afraid of moving a couple sliders in EVGA’s overclocking program and do not mind spending some time tweaking thigs it is a good deal. Everyone else may indeed find it to be the red-headed step-child it was made out to be.
