Performance: 35 out of 40.
By DDR4 standards DDR4-2400 speeds are nothing to write home about; however, with very little effort consumers can turn this ‘2400’ kit into a DDR4-2800 kit and that is damn impressive to say the least. As such, the overall performance potential of this kit is pretty decent bordering on excellent.
Ease of Use: 20 out of 20
What this kit may lack in shear out of the box performance it more than makes up for in ease of use. Simply plug them in… and enjoy – as there is really no burning ‘need’ to even enable the XMP. Mix in good low profile heat spreaders that will not interfere with CPU coolers and there basically is nothing to complain about when it comes to ease of use.
Build Quality & Warranty: 18 out of 20
While we do have some minor quibbles over the use of two-part heat spreaders, at the end of the day this kit is built to extremely high standards. After all, not every value orientated kit can easily be pushed 400MHz (effective) above its rated speed without taking them on a suicide run. Mix in a lifetime warranty from a top-tier manufacture and we really have nothing but good things to say about this kit on this side of the equation.
Value: 20 out of 20
When you combine excellent ease of use with very good overclocking abilities and then mix in a lifetime warranty the value almost has to be high; however, when you take that selfsame 32GB kit of RAM and give it a price that is only slightly more than some 16GB kits well that just boosts the value into the stratosphere. If all that was not enough then add in overall aesthetics that do not look like they belong on an inexpensive RAM kit and the end result is one of the best value orientated kits of RAM we have seen to date. Brilliant stuff!
Final Score: 93 out 100
With its combination of excellent capacity, decent performance, great overall aesthetics, and fantastic asking price the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Red edition is sure to satisfy the typical consumer. We just wish they made a DDR-2600 or DDR4-2800 version.
