As you can see the performance is rather variable between Intel’s solution and AMDs… however the overall result is rather obvious: AMD’s solution is going to be better for most consumers. This goes double for anyone who actually wants to use the integrated video solution… as Intel is not even in the same league as AMD.

Closing Statement

The AMD A10-7800 and the wraith cooler are perfect examples of what AMD’s engineers can do when they put their mind to it. Put simply this combination is tailor made for a wide range of consumers and will provide excellent all round performance for years. While yes there are indeed ‘faster’ CPUs, ‘better’ coolers, and even faster GPU solutions available this combination is darn good at an almost impossible to beat price.

The secret to this cooler and CPU combination is simple: offering more than enough performance for consumers and doing so without overly inflating the asking price. As we saw throughout testing the AMD wraith CPU cooling solution is easily the most robust air based cooler to come with any consumer grade processor. Compared to AMDs previous generation the difference is night and day large. Compared to what Intel offers with their processors there just is no comparison. Put simply this cooler is good enough for even moderate overclocking and that is fantastic news as AMD ‘K’ processors do get a noticeable boost in performance when overclocked. Quite honestly the wraith is a no-brainer option when available.

Moving on to the star of the review the AMD A10-7800 really did impress us with its versatility. As stated this processor may not be able to compete with more expensive CPU’s but its processing power is still darn good… and more than a match for a similarly priced Intel i3 in most common scenarios. More importantly its built in GPU is a veritable powerhouse and many consumers will find it more than enough for their sub-1080P and even light 1080P gaming. That is something that Intel still cannot even dream of doing. This in turn allows consumers to spend their budget on other things… like a SSD, or more RAM… or a better motherboard. The end result is a better system.

That is the key takeaway from the AMD A10-7800. It’s a fantastic value when people actually do their homework and look at the bigger picture. As an enthusiast we sometimes get too focused in on just charts and small parts of the picture… but this processor has reminded us that budget is a key part of most consumers purchasing decision. As such we strongly recommend looking at what this processor and cooler will allow you to do when it comes to the entire system upgrade. Color us impressed.
