With a growing market of users who are still not feeling the itch to upgrade their aging systems entirely, the market for low power graphics cards continues to grow. The PNY GT740 Verto is a great card for their key demographic, Users who do not have 1k to drop on a new rig but only have a low power power supply and possibly small form factor or slim form factor case. In testing the PNY GT740 I did not notice any fan whining or feeling of a inferior card. I was actually shocked to see some decent frame rates on new titles at 720p on my TV.
Is the GT740 the best card at its price? In all honesty no, if you have a full sized pci slot the GTX 750 and GTX 750 ti hands down are the best bang for your buck upgrade card in the current market. There is though that key demographic of people with their Dell, HP , Lenovo and so on slim towers that still have the processing power to handle today’s demanding games but lack the graphics power to do so. The PNY GT740 1GB Verto is a great fit for these users and can bring a whole new life to their aging or budget machine.
